Kind of a peculiar problem here that Google couldn't help me with.

Some Sound files, especially those heavy with pianos, crackle my earphones whenever played on my computer. However, when I play the same sound file on my dsi and mp3 player, there is no crackling whatsoever! My laptop doesn't crackle the sound as much when it uses no earphones though, but still crackles. Only when I use earphones on my laptop, does it really piss me off! I've went through countless, COUNTLESS $30 headphones, but it was always ear rape for me when I should be enjoying a song that should be calming!

Any idea how to fix what the hell is going on here and why a company like HP can be so freaking stupid that an entire laptop could have worse quality sound than a stupid DSi or $20 mp3 player memory stick? This is an absolute joke! Those damn bastards advertised this laptop with high quality too! What's even worse is that even when I sent this piece of shit in while under warranty, they never did shit ever!

Man, I really wish I had the money to buy a better computer from another company than HP T__T

And also, I am on vista and have a Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221 sound card.

Any idea what is wrong? It's obviously a problem with this shit laptop here, and I thought maybe someone here could perhaps help me out (Especially since I know there are techies here)

Nothing to do with the headphone socket if it crackles through the speakers too...

I've googled the Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221 and it truly is a piece of crap. Whether the crackling is because of software/drivers or something hardware-related like a dry solder joint, I don't know.

Moral of story: Don't buy HP (but you already know that.)

Also, I don't read Japanese, so I sincerely hope that's not a copyrighted file you've linked to...

Have you tried updating the drivers for your laptop? (I would suggest both sound drivers and chipset drivers)

Maybe get a USB external soundcard? USB headsets/headphones are already external soundcards basically. There are also ones that look just like flash drives but with a small 3.5 MM jack on one end.

The issue is with your drivers. Update the big 3 drivers: Video, sound, chipset. This normally fixes the problem.

I really know what you mean. It is a terrible thing for your ears and brain when that happens. Be more precautious and use a good antivirus like kaspersky so that your sound won't be affected.
